Working Principle and Design

The valve controls fluid flow by moving the gate vertically between the open and closed positions. When the valve opens, the gate moves away from the flow passage to provide full bore flow.

When the valve closes, the parallel plates contact the seats and create a tight sealing surface. In addition, fluid pressure helps increase the sealing force between the gate and seat.

This design reduces flow resistance and provides smooth media transportation. As a result, it is suitable for applications requiring efficient pipeline operation.

Advantages of Parallel Gate Valve

One major advantage of this valve is its low flow resistance. The full bore design creates a flow path similar to a straight pipe section.

Furthermore, the sliding gate design allows the valve to handle fluids containing suspended particles. This feature makes the valve suitable for demanding industrial applications.

However, metal-to-metal sealing requires sufficient pressure to achieve effective sealing force. If the pressure is too low, leakage may occur between the sealing surfaces.

In addition, frequent valve operation may increase seat wear. The service life depends on fluid pressure, sealing surface width, lubrication conditions, and the wear resistance of sealing materials.
