Benefits:

An obvious advantage is that full-bore parallel gate valves have a low flow resistance that is comparable to that of a relatively short stretch of straight pipe. This is a significant advantage.

• Due to the fact that the disc glides across the seat face, parallel gate valves are able to control the flow of fluids that contain suspended particles. This form of valve operation also imposes certain limitations on the use of parallel gate valves, including the following:
• Leaks can occur in metal-to-metal seating if the fluid pressure is not high enough to provide a sufficient amount of seating force.
• It is possible that frequent valve operation will cause excessive wear of the seating faces. The severity of the fluid pressure, the breadth of the seating faces, the lubricity of the fluid to be sealed, and the wear resistance of the seating material are all factors that contribute to this possibility. Because of this, parallel gate valves are the go-to choice for unusual applications.
